Description
- Habit and Habitat: Irregular upright or erect plant, heighted upto 6-8mts, tropical flowering tree with corky bark, hanging or weeping growth habit.
- Distribution: South America, Brazil, Peru, Northern Argentina.
- Morphology:
Leaf: Leaves palmately divided into leaflets, opposite, whorled.
Inflorescence: Panicle inflorescence.
Flowers: Bright yellow in colour, produced several together in a loose panicle.
Androecium: Stamens 4 attached to corolla tube, alternate woith the lobes.
Gynoecium: 5 lobed, single compound pistil of 2 carpels, a single style and superior ovary.
Fruit: Capsular in nature.
Seedss: Winged seeds.
Flowering and Fruiting time: February to April. - Propagation: by seeds.
- Importance: Attracts bees, popular ornamental tree and good for screening. Suitable for avenue planting. It will grow in any well drained soil.
